The
Vaisala WXT520 Remote Next G / 3G Telemetry Station sends it's
weather data via the Next G / 3G network to a web server where the
data is stored in a MySQL data base. The stored data can be retreived
at any time in csv, tab delimated or graphical format. The station
can also be accessed via your mobile phone? Simply text the station
and it will text you back up to the minute weather stats. Alarm sets
can be programed EG High / Low Tempurature, Wind Speed, etc and the
station will text one or more mobile phones when the alarm set is
reached. The Station is powered via BP Solar Cells and can be
deployed in remote area for years with little maintenance Click

The
Vaisala Weather Transmitter WXT520 is a compact and lightweight
multi-sensor instrument that measures the most essential weather
parameters. It is a configurable product that can measure wind speed
and direction, liquid precipitation, barometric pressure, temperature
and relative humidity all in one transmitter.

Wind
Measurement
Both wind speed and direction are measured using the
advanced Vaisala WINDCAP Sensor. The sensor uses ultrasound to
determine horizontal wind speed and direction. The array of three
equally spaced ultrasonic transducers on a horizontal plane is an
ideal, Vaisala proprietary design. The design ensures accurate
windmeasurement from all wind directions, without blind angles or
corrupted readings. The wind sensor has no moving parts, which makes
it maintenance free. The measurement range for wind speed is from 0
to 60 m/s and for wind direction from 0 to 360 degrees.
Precipitation
Measurement
The precipitation measurement is based on the Vaisala
RAINCAP Sensor, which detects the impact ofindividual rain drops. The
signals exerting from the impacts are proportional to the volume of
the drops. Hence, the signal from each drop can be converted directly
to the accumulated rainfall.
Compared
to traditional precipitation gauges, the Vaisala RAINCAP Sensor gives
more detailed information about precipitation. The WXT520 measures
accumulated rainfall, rain intensity and duration of the rain all in
real time. Due to the measurement method, flooding, clogging as well
as wetting and evaporation losses in rain measurement are eliminated.
The
Vaisala RAINCAP Sensor is the only maintenance free precipitation
sensor on the market.
PTU
module for barometric pressure temperature and humidity
Barometric
pressure, temperature and humidity measurements are combined in an
advanced PTU module utilizing capacitive measurement method for each
parameter.
Barometric
pressure is measured using the silicon-based Vaisala BAROCAP Sensor.
The sensor has minimal hysteresis and excellent repeatability, as
well as outstanding temperature and long-term stability. The
measurement range for pressure is from 600 to 1100 hPa.
Temperature
measurement is based on the ceramic Vaisala THERMOCAP Sensor. The
measurement range is from -52 to +60 C.
Humidity
measurement is based on the Vaisala HUMICAP technology. The Vaisala
HUMICAP Sensor is highly accurate and it offers excellent longterm
stability in a wide range of environments and negligible hysteresis.
The measurement range for humidity is 0...100 %RH.
The
whole PTU module is replaceable and available as a spare part.
Accurate
and Stable Measurement
The PTU module is mounted in a specially
designed radiation shield. The shield protects the sensors from both
scattered and direct solar radiation and precipitation. The plastic
materialin the plates offers excellent thermal characteristics and UV
stabilized construction. The white outer surface reflects radiation,
while the black inside absorbs accumulated heat.
